dArtagnan rock band

dArtagnan is a German folk rock band from Nuremberg, named after the 17th-century French soldier Charles de Batz de Castelmore d’Artagnan—immortalized by Alexandre Dumas in his novels, particularly “The Three Musketeers”. Founded in 2015, the band consists of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Benjamin Metzner (mandolin, bagpipes, flute), guitarist/backing vocalist Felix Fischer, and guitarist/vocalist Tim Bernard. Metzner and Fischer, longtime friends, previously played together in the medieval rock band Feuerschwanz.

The trio’s debut album, “Seit an Seit” (2016), peaked at number seven on the German charts and also charted in Austria and Switzerland. Since then, the band has performed at major festivals and embarked on extensive tours across Germany. The core lineup is augmented live by guitarist Haiko Heinz (replacing Hans Platz, also of Feuerschwanz), bassist Sebastian Baumann, and drummer Matthias Böhm. In December 2017, Fischer departed and was succeeded by Gustavo Strauss, who introduced violin to the band’s sound.

Their 2022 single “We’re Gonna Be Drinking” (from *Felsenfest*) featured a collaboration with Candice Night of Blackmore’s Night. In March 2024, they released a music video for their anthem “Ruf der Freiheit” (“Call of Freedom”).

dArtagnan describes their style as “Musketeer Rock” (Musketier-Rock), blending modern rock with folk rhythms—”some of which echoed across the land centuries ago”—and lyrics celebrating “love of life, compassion, friendship, camaraderie, and courage.”

Since 2023, the band has incorporated our Roughbiker custom-made boots—designed to their specifications—as a key part of their stage costumes.
